Sea Kayaking The Maine Coast: Introduction

This course is for anyone who wants to try out sea kayaking and gain the skills and knowledge needed to paddle the Maine coast. You'll learn the essential techniques of the sport and become familiar with the necessary gear and safety considerations. After getting comfortable in your boat along the shores of Portland harbor during the first day, you'll begin the second day with a paddle to an island, working on improving boat control along the way. Your instructor will customize the lesson to work with each students' goals, experience level and interests. Students will be contacted if weather conditions require cancellation or rescheduling.  Kayaks, paddles, PFDs (lifejackets) are provided.

This interval training class offers three essential fitness components: cardio, strength training, and stretching to release tension. Participants will engage in interval training, essential for calorie burning and weight loss. Students will engage in multiple actions for short bursts. Students must register and pay the instructor at the first class, but anyone can drop in or start the class anytime throughout the session. No discounts applicable. Requirement: a mat or towel. Stand-Up Paddleboarding: Introduction

This course will teach you the basics of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) while offering a chance to paddle on the waters of Casco Bay. We’ll cover the basic paddling strokes, board balance, safety considerations and much more. The lesson will be taught by a Registered Maine Guide with many years experience teaching paddleboarding. Paddle Boards are provided.
