Argentine Tango For Beginners

Argentine Tango is an improvised dance, a conversation without words with someone you may not know. This class covers basic concepts to get beginners dancing: connection, musicality, turns, pivots, the cruzada, leading and following, footwork, codes. It also introduces three styles of Tango: tango, vals, and milonga. Please bring shoes with soles that slide. No partner needed.

This interval training class offers three essential fitness components: cardio, strength training, and stretching to release tension. Participants will engage in interval training, essential for calorie burning and weight loss. Students will engage in multiple actions for short bursts. Students must register and pay the instructor at the first class, but anyone can drop in or start the class anytime throughout the session. No discounts applicable. Requirement: A mat or towel. Online Registration is not available for this course. It may be subject to certain prerequisites or inventory requirements. Please contact PAE in person or by phone (874-8155) to discuss the requirements for this course or for more information.

Ballroom Dancing For Couples

This class introduces couples to basic ballroom dance skills that will help them enjoy a night out, or prepare them for special events such as weddings, anniversaries, or social gatherings. The class also helps boost a student’s confidence by teaching them to look great while dancing to styles such as waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha, rumba, and merengue. Requirement: A dancing partner. Class payment is per person.

Join Portland Swing Project for an introduction to Lindy Hop! In the world of "swing dance", there's Charleston, 6-Count Swing and Lindy Hop, which is considered the soul of the dance. Students will learn the basic Lindy Hop footwork and some simple, fun moves that will get you out on the dance floor. You will learn how to connect with any partner, and build your confidence dancing to different styles and tempos of music. Join Portland Swing Project for an introduction to Charleston! We'll teach you the basic 8-count footwork and some simple, fun Charleston moves that will get you out on the dance floor. We’ll show you techniques to connect with any partner, and build your confidence dancing to different styles and tempos of music. We'll break things down slowly and clearly, give you plenty of practice time, and rotate partners throughout the class so you'll have a chance to dance with everyone. For those of you who have taken our Beginning East Coast Swing or Beginning Lindy Hop Class, we'll show you how to transition from those dances in and out of Charleston. For those of you brand new to swing dancing, this is a great class to get your feet wet and have some fun! Chinese Dance: Introduction

This program is the product of Dr. Yang Yang’s extensive training with grandmasters of the Chen style and his research studying the mechanisms and benefits of Taijiquan and Qigong practice. The program focus is “the most important aspects of traditional training that will yield the greatest measured benefit in the shortest amount of time” and consists of essential static and dynamic qigong exercises & seven forms that are challenging yet adaptable to suit all levels. Curriculum serves as a comprehensive program for beginners and a solid foundation for further study in any style taiji.
