Sea Kayaking The Maine Coast: Introduction

This course is for anyone who wants to try out sea kayaking and gain the skills and knowledge needed to paddle the Maine coast. You will learn the essential techniques of the sport and become familiar with the necessary gear and safety considerations. After getting comfortable in your boat along the shores of Portland harbor during the first day, you will begin the second day with a paddle to an island, working on improving boat control along the way. Students will be contacted if weather conditions require cancellation or rescheduling. Kayak and paddling gear provided.

Ukulele: Beyond Beginners (Online Class)

Take your ukulele playing to another level! Using a song-based approach, you will explore fretting hand ornamentation techniques including hammering on, pulling off and slides. Your strumming hand will get a work out as you expand your knowledge of strumming and finger picking techniques. In addition, more chords will be added to your ‘tool box’. Of course, there will be many laughs along the way and you will definitely need to practice. At a minimum, all students are expected to know basic chord formations in the Key of C and be capable of smooth chord transitions.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding: Introduction

Course Description: This course will teach you the basics of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) while offering a chance to paddle on the waters of Casco Bay. We’ll cover the basic paddling strokes, board balance, safety considerations and much more. The lesson will be taught by a Registered Maine Guide with many years experience teaching paddleboarding. Paddleboards and paddling equipment (PFD, paddle, leash, wet suit, etc.) provided.

Excel 2016, Intermediate Level Workshop (Online Course)

Looking to improve your Excel skills? In four sessions, students will learn to build pivot tables, use database features, manage multiple worksheets, create pick lists and protect formulas. If you have a basic understanding of Excel and want to become more efficient, then this class is for you! Prerequisite: MS Excel, or comparable Excel experience. Must have Excel software on personal devices. Scholarships are not available for this class. Location: Online 4 Sessions.

Medical Terminology (Online Course)

In this course, students learn how medical terms are analyzed and built, how to pronounce and spell terms, how to apply medical terms as they relate to basic anatomy and physiology, and common diseases of each bodily system. No prior knowledge of biology required. Location: Online 14 Sessions The price of this course does not include a book fee of $50.

Accounting 2 (Online Course)

Building off of Accounting 1, this course introduces more complex accounting procedures and completes the accounting cycle with a focus on larger publicly-owned merchandising businesses. Worksheets are introduced that assist in the recording of year-end adjustments, closing the company’s books for a reporting period and the final preparation of financial statements. Additionally, interpreting a company’s results of operations through various financial analysis methodologies are taught. Accounting for the company’s payroll is covered as well as the periodic reporting of financial information requirements to the federal government. Internal and external auditing procedures are discussed as well as various career options in the accounting field. Prerequisite: Accounting 1 Location: Online 12 Sessions

Microsoft Office 2016, Introduction (Online Course)

This course is for you whether you’re completely new to Microsoft Office or are just looking to refresh your skills for a potential job. Basic computer terminology is covered. Students will become familiar with Word, Excel and PowerPoint, sending and receiving attachments through email and challenges to practice what you’ve learned. Location: Online 12 Sessions

Keyboarding (Online Course)

Calendar Jun 15, 2020 at 12 pm, runs for 6 weeks
Available for ESOL Level 4 and above. Students in this class will develop techniques and skills that are conducive to building keyboarding speed with a high level of accuracy, including the number keypad. Students will also learn correct techniques of hand placement, proper posture, and ways to avoid repetitive motion problems. Beginning students will learn the keyboard and should be able to type 20 to 30 words per minute (WPM) by course end. Students that already know the keyboard will practice timings and progress to 45 WPM. Location: Online 12 Sessions
