Building off of Accounting 1, this course covers the basics of a double entry accounting system. Topics include assets, liabilities, owner’s equity, debits and credits, journal entries, ledger accounts, posting, balancing accounts, preparing a trial balance, and preparing payroll. Prerequisite: Accounting 1. The price of this course does not include a book fee of $30.00.

Annuities: What You Need To Know

Argentine Tango For Beginners

Argentine Tango is an improvised dance, a conversation without words with someone you may not know. This class covers basic concepts to get beginners dancing: connection, musicality, turns, pivots, the cruzada, leading and following, footwork, codes. It also introduces three styles of Tango: tango, vals, and milonga. Please bring shoes with soles that slide. No partner needed.

At Home Printmaking Techniques 2

Learn some simple techniques for making prints at home using everyday materials and non-toxic inks. Gelatin-plate and linoleum block printing will be the primary focus, with lots of space for play and experimentation. No experience necessary, but printmaking class alumni are welcome to return to brush up on techniques and dig into new projects. The price of this course includes a lab fee of $50.

Beginning Lindy Hop

Join Portland Swing Project for an introduction to Lindy Hop! In the world of "swing dance", there's Charleston, 6-Count Swing and Lindy Hop, which is considered the soul of the dance. Students will learn the basic Lindy Hop footwork and some simple, fun moves that will get you out on the dance floor. You will learn how to connect with any partner, and build your confidence dancing to different styles and tempos of music. Join Portland Swing Project for an introduction to Charleston! We'll teach you the basic 8-count footwork and some simple, fun Charleston moves that will get you out on the dance floor. We’ll show you techniques to connect with any partner, and build your confidence dancing to different styles and tempos of music. We'll break things down slowly and clearly, give you plenty of practice time, and rotate partners throughout the class so you'll have a chance to dance with everyone. For those of you who have taken our Beginning East Coast Swing or Beginning Lindy Hop Class, we'll show you how to transition from those dances in and out of Charleston. For those of you brand new to swing dancing, this is a great class to get your feet wet and have some fun! Chalk Paint A Vintage Holiday Sign

Create your own beautiful holiday sign for your home or gift. Students will choose between several options to complete a sign in the class. Each sign will be painted, aged and waxed for one of a kind treasure.  Students will walk out with a completed sign and learn the skills to make any sign without expensive equipment, stencils or vinyl. Wear paint clothes or and bring a small drop cloth. All materials, paints and tools will be provided.

Computers For Seniors

Designed for inexperienced students, this introductory class provides participants with the basics of computers, including email and Internet usage. Course also covers Facebook and Skype, and provides plenty of time for students to practice. No computer experience necessary. By the end, students will be able to upload photos to Facebook or create an album.

Cooking Matters For Adults

Students will learn about healthy meal prep and sensible shopping on a limited budget. Prepare the meal along with the chef, and then receive a free bag of groceries for you to make one of the recipes at home each week. Graduation certificate, recipe book and other freebies provided upon completion of the program. Limit: One person per household. Cooking Matters Maine is a program of the Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine.
