You will explore healthcare professions, learn about medical facilities and organizational structure, research training and educational opportunities, assess your interests and skills as it relates to the job, study the job search process and create a path towards a health career goal and steps to achieve it. Students will be interviewed to ensure proper placement for the course. English level 5 and above. Online Registration is not available for this course. NMRC/PAE and Maine Center for Disease Control are partnering to offer this core competency training for community health workers (CHW) in Maine. Trainers will deliver a curriculum developed by the Institute for Public Health Innovation, which meets State of Maine CHW training guidelines. A community health worker is a frontline public health worker who is a trusted member of and understands the community served. The worker is a link between health and social service providers and the community to help community members access services. Class participants must be able to commit to attending all class sessions to receive a certificate of completion. CASAS score of 240 or higher is required.
