Learn some simple techniques for making prints at home using everyday materials and non-toxic inks. Gelatin-plate and linoleum block printing will be the primary focus, with lots of space for play and experimentation. No experience necessary, but printmaking class alumni are welcome to return to brush up on techniques and dig into new projects. The price of this course includes a lab fee of $50.

Chalk Paint A Vintage Holiday Sign

Create your own beautiful holiday sign for your home or gift. Students will choose between several options to complete a sign in the class. Each sign will be painted, aged and waxed for one of a kind treasure.  Students will walk out with a completed sign and learn the skills to make any sign without expensive equipment, stencils or vinyl. Wear paint clothes or and bring a small drop cloth. All materials, paints and tools will be provided.

Is there furniture in your home that needs a fresh look? Been dreaming of a new kitchen? Students will learn the simple Royal Chalk 4 step system for painting your furniture. Students will learn how to create any look your desire, vintage, cottage, antiqued, or modern and in any painted color you desire. Wood, MDF, Laminate can all be painted. No experience required! Visit the royalchalk.com site to get an idea of the beauty you can create. Bring a VERY small portable piece of furniture or wooden craft to paint and a one cup sample of flat low-primer paint. We love the Home Depot BEHR Premium Plus flat sheen 8 ounce samples. (Please, no chairs with spindles.)  Wear your painting clothes or an apron and bring a small drop cloth. All materials, chalking supplies and tools will be provided.

This introductory course provides students with the necessary skills to start taking high quality photographs. The course covers many camera features and settings, focusing on both “point-and-shoot” and D-SLR cameras. Students should expect class discussions about camera topics including shadows, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, aperture priority, resolution, f-stop, and more. To ensure students can apply knowledge for real-world circumstances, the course also covers the organization and printing of photos. The price of this course includes a lab fee of $5.00.

Rather than focus on writing as an end product, this course is about the enjoyment of writing as a process. Students will be encouraged to trust their own unique intuitive approach, writing from a weekly prompt and receiving supportive feedback. All genres - fiction, autobiography, poetry, plays, as well as unnamed forms - are welcome. Open to writers of any level of experience.
